Rugged Seas is a brand that’s as tough as the people who live and work in Maine’s coastal communities. Fishermen’s bibs are heavy-duty waterproof overalls designed to keep fishermen dry and protected at sea and are made in a wide range of colors. Much like sails, bibs wear out from days of hard use at sea, but even when bibs can’t be worn any more, the material still has plenty of life. Instead of going to landfills, Rugged Seas uses their deep connection to commercial fisheries to recover these bibs. Then, the fishermen’s bibs are gathered in Maine to be cleaned, cut, and sewn locally into durable products that last for years.Â
